The Garden District is a area located in the middle of Baton Rouge that is very rich in history. The Garden District is made up of three parts: Roseland Terrace, Kleinert Place and Drehr Place. This area centers around the intersection of Park Boulevard and Government Street and includes many historic, iconic Baton Rouge homes. It’s one of the most distinct areas of Baton Rouge dating back to the early 1900s. Shaded with tons of live Oak Trees this area gives charm unlike any other neighborhood in Baton Rouge. This area makes up over 1.7 square miles of mid city Baton Rouge.

Roseland Terrace was the first district in Baton Rouge and construction started in 1911. These first homes were built in the Queen Anne Colonial style which was popular during that time.  There were also many bungalows that were constructed toward the end of construction in this area, which didn’t happen until the 1930’s.

Krewe of Mystique de la Capitale – This parade will be held on the 30th of January. This Saturday parade will begin at 2PM and will be celebrating its 38th year in Baton Rouge as the city’s oldest parade group. This parade will have just under 15 floats and several marching bands. Many local businesses join forces to make this parade memorable for the whole family.

Krewe of Orion – Come to downtown Baton Rouge at 6:30PM on January 30th to see the Krewe of Orion Parade. This parade is also family friendly and will feature many beautifully lit and colorful parade floats, costumed characters, amazing masks, and parade throws such as footballs, medals, cups, beads, and more! This parade features a large marching band with several smaller bands dispursed amongst the floats. You will not want to miss this year’s Krewe of Orion Parade which begins on Government Street.

Caaws Mystic Krewe of Mutts – This Parade will be held on Sunday at 2PM at North Boulevard Street.
